I have followed motor sport for many years but am new to competition.
Prior to 2009 the closest I had been was as a service crew member on several Targa Events.
I have a passion for Mk1 & Mk2 Ford Escorts and have owned an original 1977
Mk2 1600, Escort Sport, for the last few years.
Early in 2009 I purchased a MK1 RS2000 Replica, racecar for use in club events. My first year competing has been great fun and resulted in a few 2nd and 3rd places in club events during the year.
I am most proud to have won the Coachworks trophy for the best-presented car at club events during the year. As I say, “when the combined age of the car and driver are close to 100 years the least you can do is look good.”
I am very keen to encourage other new members to get involved in grass roots level club events. |
